BRUSSELS STREET, MASCOT
The key driving factor is to ensure the space feels luxurious; which is exactly the aim of my proposal. Whether this be achieved through higher ceilings, sunken or risen spaces and layered wall styles. Also by generating the feel of endless spaces by maximising the connections to green spaces surrounding each dwelling. Exploring the relationship between these “ideals” found in luxurious spaces, can develop key linkages between internal and external spaces and how they affect human behaviour. It is also important to create these moments which distinctively give personality to each dwelling. This would in turn give them character and a stronger stance in Mascot. To visually link each dwelling, we can incorporate a variation of a common flowering tree, the Crepe Myrtle found on Brussels Street, and be inspired by its natural colour palette of wooden tones and vibrant pinks. It provides a break to the sharp and strong lines of the architecture itself.
